By completing this programme delegates will be able to :

-Understand how risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety Define terms ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’, process for carrying out risk assessments, risk control hierarchy

-Understand the principles associated with manual handling safety Protecting the body, musculoskeletal system, lever system and centre of gravity Understand the principles associated with manual handling safety Describe safe movement principles when preparing for a lift, moving a load on your own and as part of a team

-Understand the types of equipment and test requirements associated with safety

-Types of handling equipment, requirements for testing, servicing and examination of handling and lifting equipment
